Description

5-BrdUisanucleosideanalog,andcompeteswiththymidineforincorporationintoDNA,andisusedinthedetectionofproliferatingcells.

InVitro

Bromodeoxyuridineinducesaprogressive,dose-responsivesuppressionofcancercelllineandcancerstemcellpopulationexpansionRG2ratgliomacells.InH9cellsandBJfibroblasts,bromodeoxyuridinealtersthecellcycleprofile[1]. BrdUisstablyintegratedintotheDNA,andthuscanbeusedinassessmentofcellproliferationandothercellprocession[2]. 

InVivo

Bromodeoxyuridine(300mg/kg,i.p.or0.8mg/mL,p.o.)significantlyslowstumorprogressioninratgliomaRG2tumormodel[1].
