Ademetionine(S-adenosyl-l-methionine;SAMe)isanaturally-occurringsubstancewhichisamajorsourceofmethylgroupsinthebrain.Target:OthersS-adenosyl-l-methionine(SAMe)isanaturally-occurringsubstancewhichisamajorsourceofmethylgroupsinthebrain.TheefficacyofSAMeintreatingdepressivesyndromesanddisordersissuperiorwiththatofplaceboandcomparabletothatofstandardtricyclicantidepressants.SinceSAMeisanaturallyoccurringcompoundwithrelativelyfewside-effects,itisapotentiallyimportanttreatmentfordepression[1].S-adenosylmethionine(SAMe)isadietarysupplementusedinthemanagementofosteoarthritis(OA)symptoms.StudiesevaluatingSAMeinthemanagementofOAhavebeenlimitedtoNonSteroidalAnti-inflammatoryDrugs(NSAIDs)forcomparison.ThepresentstudycomparestheeffectivenessofSAMetoacyclooxygenase-2(COX-2)inhibitor(celecoxib)forpaincontrol,functionalimprovementandtodecreasesideeffectsinpeoplewithosteoarthritisoftheknee[2].
